WHEN THE RADIUS OR CHAMFER OF THE RETAINED PART DOES NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM RADIUS ALLOWED FOR THE BOTTOM OF THE RING GROOVE, THE LESSER LOAD CAPACITY COMPUTED FROM THE FORMULA ON PAGE 6 WILL APPLY. THE CORNER RADII AND CHAMFERS LISTED ON PAGE 2 WERE CHOSEN AS LARGE AS POSSIBLE FOR THE RING SIZES INVOLVED AND ARE RELATED TO THE MAXIMUM THRUST LOADS LISTED IN TABLE V.
